Great Chesterford GPR2 relief.

After a spell at Shepreth Branch Junction I took a Class 2 relief post based at Great Chesterford, living in Cambridge I soon discovered that a car would have been decidedly useful, however I got by on the bike and using the trains. I wil not forget cycling to Great Chesterford at 0430 one freezing November morning and discovering upon arrival that the outgoing signaller had let the fire go out.(Nice one Cyril !) My fingers were not the only thing which were blue.
Photographic opportunities were not a patch on those at Shepreth Branch Junction but this collection represents a flavour of the area and I have included some pictures of Fulbourne and Shepreth for added interest.
The job was lucrative especially a 06-14 shift at Shepreth Branch Junction followed by 1800-2100 at Audley End which happened on aregular basis, I hardly saw the wife which is probably why we are still married !
